Activism on Bill C-75 (2018)

Bill C-75 (2018) proposed to repeal the anal intercourse offense in the criminal code.

I joined with historians Gary Kinsman, Steven Maynard, and Patrizia Gentile to call for the repeal of all criminal offenses that were historically used to criminalize queer people.

I appeared with Gary Kinsman before the Standing Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs on September 25, 2018.

As a result of this activism, the justice committee amended the bill to repeal vagrancy and bawdy-house offenses.
